DesktopsYou should choose Shutdown from the Menu when you are finished using your Mac for the day. This puts away the directory copy in RAM and closes the disk Drive in an organized way before halting Mac OS and dropping power.
Using the power button drops the power, but does an uncontrolled Power-Off. This can lead to disk corruption, and should only be used for an emergency power off. In addition, if you have "restart after a Power failure" set in energy saver, your Mac will note that the power failed, and restart itself.
