My mom got this exact same email! When she clicked on the link, it asked for sensitive information like social security number, and credit card info.  I forwarded a copy of it to reportphishing@apple.com

Thanks for the directions King_Penguin, however could you - or anyone - explain what happens when someone clicks in the "cancel purchase" link provided?

I also panicked and clicked on the link (although the scam email came to an email account which is not connected with my actual itunes, my hand acted faster than my brain) and the link only opened a safari tab on google!

Do i need to take any actions?  I only thought to clean my history!

Thank you in advance for your wisdom.

    Gus

As long as you didn't enter details (e.g. password) on the site that you were taken to then your iTunes account should be ok.

But you might have let the people who sent the email know that the email account is active, so you might get further phishing emails (and possibly not just iTunes, maybe other sites / stores / banks as well), so be careful with emails - if in doubt type in their web address, don't use links in emails.

    It's a phishing email.

(Don't post images that contain personal details such as your email address - I've asked the hosts to remove it.)

I Have just received something similar for a music subscrption from a Williams iPhone. Strange since I made no subscription but when I clicked on the link to cancel the subscription it took me to YouTube. I am not sure if I had activated any type of virus by doing so. I checked my purchase and subscription history but unable to find anything related. I guess it is scam but will forward the email to apple.

There's a lot of this one about - I got one earlier today (to an address which isn't my Apple ID).
