Q: Pages : Printing A5 flyer on A4 paper

I've created an A5 flyer using pages and now want to print it.

Because I used images all the way to the edge of the flyer I want to print the flyer in the centre of a piece of A4 so I can then trim the excess paper away.

However, whenever I print, it automatically moves the page to the top left of the printed sheet, which means I lose some of the images to the non-printable area.

Also, it won't print a hairline (despite selecting the option!).

Thanks,

Simon

Do the obvious: Construct your design in the centre of an A4 sheet complete with crop marks at the corners so you know where to cut.

"Hairline" is not a dimension so don't use it. It depends on your printer's resolution. Specify 0.25pt rule and/or test for what is workable on your printer.

Also be careful to use 100% black if you want a solid line, probably your colour was an RGB or CMYK mix which comes out as a blurred or non-existent halftone pattern on something too narrow to reproduce it.

Thanks Peter - it seems a shame to have to change the page setup as a work around. but it's a very simple way of working round the problem. Thanks.

If you want to have bleed and trim your document and can't fit more than one on a sheet, what's the difference?

If you just don't want to see so much excess white area on your page, make a template with an extra 10mm all round the A5 containing the crop marks.

The issue is more to do with printing the pages back to back. You have a better chance of aligning them if they are in the centre of the paper. Alignment won't be perfect but it will be closer.
