Sep 11, 2016 1:51 PM in response to Allizberby King_Penguin,You can't permanently delete any purchase (including apps, music etc) from the cloud, all you can do is hide them from the cloud, similar to how you hide apps, music etc

Sep 11, 2016 2:05 PM in response to King_Penguinby Allizber,Correct, I can't delete them from iTunes or iCloud, but I can delete them from my devices and do not have to worry about hiding them. I don't hide the apps I no longer want and/or no longer use. I just take the apps off my devices. Music I'm able to delete from my library. iBooks should be the same. I have some 500 or so books, I shouldn't have continually have to go thru my books reviewing items I've tried to remove from my library.

Sep 11, 2016 2:16 PM in response to Allizberby King_Penguin,You can turn off the showing of iCloud books on the bookshelf by tapping on the collections button and turning 'Hide iCloud Books' 'on' - you can redownload books via the Purchased tab in the iBooks app. But unless you hide the books from the cloud they will continue to show in Purchased for redownloading, so similar to how deleted apps (as you say that you don't hide them) continue to show in the Purchased tab in the App Store app for redownloading
