Q: iPad slow Wi-Fi connection

Hello,

I have iPad 3. It works with no problem but sometime (once in 3-4 months) I have a problem to open Web browser. It's extremely slow. I'm using Safari. Using 'speed test' I found that download speed is ~ 25Mbps (same as on my iPhone) which is OK. But opening google.com on iPad takes almost forever.

Could it be Safari issue? It does not sound to me like router issue since 25 Mbps is decent speed. Should I try Chrome or could I clean / reset Safari somehow?

Thanks

iPad

Update: I tried to use Chrome but opening Google.com takes minutes anyway.

Try resetting Safari. Close Safari completely from the app switcher window by double clicking the Home button and swiping up the Safari preview pane until it disappears from the screen. Then go to Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data. Then restart the device.

If that does not help, try turning off Safari Suggestions. Settings > Safari > Safari Suggestions > Off.

Also try changing to Google's DNS:  Settings > Wi-Fi > Click on the Network, Delete all numbers under DNS and enter 8.8.8.8 or alternatively 8.8.4.4

You might try turning off a content blocker, if you're using one. Also try force quitting your other apps, see ipad air 2 terrible lagging with Safari.

How much free data storage space is left on your iPad 3?

How many apps do you have running in the background in the iOS App Switcher?

Try some or all of my tips here.

I have ~ 3 Gb of available storage.

I followed all tips you suggested above. Not sure .... which one helped but now I'm back on track.

    Thanks a lot.

If you can regain more storage space by backing up things like photos to the latest iTunes on a computer and then delete photos you really don't need or want off of your iPad, deleting seldom used apps, adjust the amount of music you have on your iPad's Music App, that would help as you are right at the 3GBs minimum free storage threshold.
