Q: itunes codes fraud

I purchased an Itunes code on Ebay from Paypal digital gifts. When I attempted to use the code 2 weeks later, it had been redeemed. I contacted both Paypal digital gift cards (the seller) and Apple.

Both refused to do anything to help or reimburse me. despite my providing a receipt and detailed information about the purchase. Apple was able to tell me the code had been redeemed (stolen) but refused to provide me with information as it would " violate the privacy" of the thief in question. Apple further suggested I contact the police and file a report? Seriously?  Where am I even supposed to begin with that task?

Apple further claims they blocked the account of the person who redeemed the code (which I seriously doubt and can of course not prove) If that's true, that means Apple keep the money from the sale and did not provide a product to me or the thief.

So they kept the $100, and told me to get lost. NICE CUSTOMER CARE!!!!!!

I read your post. You are incorrect. You did not purchase it from Apple. You purchased it from a 3rd party. Apple is not responsible for your getting ripped off. eBay has a buyer protection policy. File a claim with eBay and get your money back. This is not Apple's problem.

KiltedTim, since you seem to be so certain Apple and Paypal don't know who sold me the card, please back up your assertion.    Do you work for eBay, Apple or Paypal or do you know the name of this alleged third party selling 100s of iTunes gift cards on eBay?   My card was used around the same time as the original poster but I actually bought it months ago (outside of the time allowed to file an eBay claim) along with another card that worked fine.   iTunes gift cards have no  expiration date.  I did not know Apple or Paypal  would apparently be hacked when I bought it.     Apple also told me the same person who used my card used dozens of others the same day and they were all $100.   They don't know how this has happened but are investigating.

Yes, since Apple got the money, then they sold me the card and did not provide a product that could be used.

I don't believe this should be so difficult to follow.

wrong. Apple has $100. They provide the codes. The code could just as easily have been stolen from their date base, since they claim to not know what happened to it.

geo1733, the others posters don't understand that Apple sold the gift cards on eBay using Paypal to collect the money.  They were not sold by a third party, and Paypal does not itself resell any merchandise or gift cards. If you send me message I will tell you what I am doing to get my money back.

I'm sorry you are not understanding how you have been a victim of fraud on the Internet, because with your lack of understanding you will become a victim over and over again.

stedman1, the issue with iTunes is not just one of being on the Internet, and Apple does not know if my code was stolen on the Internet.     Please check the other threads in this forum. This has also happened to many others who bought iTunes gift cards in stores that said they had been used even though they had just scratched the card to reveal the number.  One them even posted a YouTube video proving it.

You are of no help and don't seem to follow the basic precept of the way Apple sells their cards.

Apple collects the money and sends out the codes. In these instances stolen codes.

Your snide remarks are simply a waste of time.

Actually the person (s) who sold you the card has your $100, Apple has the $100 from whoever actually bought it.

Apple distributes physical gift cards with scratch-off codes, and they also distribute codes via email when they are purchased through the Apple Online Store. Apple does NOT sell anything directly on eBay. If you do not believe this, then please post a link to the eBay listing.

I didn't say that. Try actually reading what I wrote.

Do you work for eBay, Apple or Paypal or do you know the name of this alleged third party selling 100s of iTunes gift cards on eBay?

No. I don't. You should know the name of the third party you bought them from... You bought them, after all. Apple does not sell "gift cards" on eBay. Paypal doesn't sell anything at all. If you don't know who you bought them from, ask eBay, they're the broker in this transaction.

You should have checked to make sure the code you bought was valid before the time to dispute the sale expired.

iTunes gift cards have no  expiration date.  I did not know Apple or Paypal  would apparently be hacked when I bought it.     Apple also told me the same person who used my card used dozens of others the same day and they were all $100.   They don't know how this has happened but are investigating.

No one was "hacked" You were ripped off, plain and simple. This has NOTHING to do with Apple.

I will let you decide who the real selller is.  I don't think there is any question it has something to do with Apple.

    New message from: paypal_digital_gifts (310,963)

We are the third party that has a contract with Apple and only registered to sell their codes digitally on eBay.
