Q: Macbook keeps shutting off if not connected

Ok so I changed my internal hard drive (put new SSD in there). While changing it I noticed my battery was basically exploded. I figured that was clearly the reason why my laptop kept shutting if not after 5-10 minutes if not connected to charger. Changed battery as well & thought the issue was fixed, but it's still shutting off. Anybody know what the problem may be?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), iOS 8.1.3

Resetting SMC could solve the problem.
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

Take out the battery IMMEDIATELY and replace it. The battery can expand even more an severely damage the MBP.

System preferences > Energy Saver ...

... has TWO sets of settings, one for use with the Power adapter, and a completely separate one for use with Battery only.

Be aware of this and be certain you set up BOTH sets to your liking.
