Q: iTunes Gray dotted circle

Whenever I add a song, a grey dotted circle appears next to it, and it is unplayable. This applies to every song I have ever tried to add. However, there are 2 grayed out songs in my music app (on my iPhone) which I cannot delete and crash the app whenever I play the songs. I have tried using 3rd party software as well (such as anyTrans, iexplorer, iAmazing and more), but I am still unable to add a song. I have tried about every single method on this forums, and am hoping to receive new support.

Thank you.

The following steps should help with erratic syncing behaviour, including the dreaded dotted circle. They assume that all of the content you want on the device is in your library ready for restoring. If it isn't see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device first. I would also recommend you copy everything out of the camera roll if you haven't already.

    1. Backup device.
    2. Restore as a new device.
    3. Restore the backup you made earlier.

Use an encrypted backup if you want to preserve passwords, wi-fi settings, web history and health data where appropriate.
