Q: Macbook Pro Retina 15 inch getting hot when connected to external monitor

Hello there,

My problem: When i connect my monitor (LG IPS277L) my Macbook Pro's temperature starts heating up. This problem also often happens when i am using Facetime.

I found this really weird because i should have a good enough Macbook Pro for this.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15 inch, medio 2015)

Processor: 2,5 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics card: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB / AMD Radeon R9 M370X

OSX El Captain 10.11.6

I hope someone recognizes this problem and wants share their solution.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

When you connect to an external monitor, you are using the AMD chip for the graphics (without the external monitor, most software only needs the Intel graphics engine).  It draws more power and therefore gets warm.  All the MacBook Pros do this to some extent.  This should be considered normal.  If the computer actually overheats, it will shut down.
