Q: iPad Air Won't Let Me Clear Search History

On my iPad air, I try to delete my search history in settings-safari, but it's not highlighted blue and it's grey. The button below it saying clear cookies and data, is highlighted blue. When I also try to click the book button on safari and it's grey and I can't click it.

You need to remove restrictions. I turned it off and then I could clear all of my history.

Took me forever to figure this one out, and never saw this solution on any search.  The issue is iCloud syncing your Safari favorites and history across all of your devices.  You can clear your history on iPad until the cows come home, but it will just keep re-syncing with your other devices.  Go into Settings on your iPad, select iCloud and de-select Safari to stop syncing.

GO to settings, select Restrictions, turn restrictions off (disable restrictions)

GO back yo Safari, select clear history as desired

GO back to settings, select Restrictions, turn restrictions on (enable restrictions)
