Q: Can I disable sync of iCloud Drive for specific folders?
I have some files that I uploaded to iCloud Drive, which I rarely open.
I know that iCloud Drive intelligently sync files that I rarely open, but is it possible for me to:
1. Mark a specific folder in iCloud Drive to not sync to my devices? I think of this as a "cold storage" feature?
2. Pause synchronization of iCloud Drive just like I pause iCloud Photos on Mac?
This is since I am on an environment where internet speed is very limited, and I often uses mobile wifi (MiFi) which data is very expensive, therefore I need to manage the synchronization manually by myself. I also would like to save the precious space on my MacBook Pro's SSD, that's why I need that "cold storage" feature in the cloud.
Note: This trick below might works for pausing the sync, but is there any other way to pause the sync?
How do you pause iCloud Drive from syncing? It is using all of my mobile data!
My environment: 13" 2015 Retina MacBook Pro running El Capitan, iPhone 6 running iOS 9.3.5.
Thank you.
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch,Early 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

You can't selectively sync and you can stop iCloud Drive syncing by going to System Preferences/iCloud and uncheck syncing.
