Q: Move messages from iPhone to Messages app on Mac

I had a catastrophic failure of the HD on my iMac and the Time Machine external drive died as well. I have a new HD on the iMac. One thing that would be nice is to restore the iMessages on my iPhone to the Messages app. Is there a way to do that?

I had been backing my iPhone up in iTunes. That was lost of course. When backing up my iPhone in iTunes with the new HD, the messages that I have on the iPhone are backed up, somewhere. I found a utility that allowed me to save them as an Excel file or HTML file.

But is there a way to restore them to the Messages app?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

    Hi,

The simple and complete answer is no.

There is no way to "convert" those text files into anything that Messages can read.
