Q: "Run out of Application Memory" error

I just got a Force Quit window pop up pausing my applications.  It was titled "Your Mac has run out of Application Memory".  What is this and why is it occurring?  I wasn't running any more applications than I usually do.  Ho do I fix this?

    Hi,

From that Pic it is the 4Gb of Memory that the apps are using.

The Activity Monitor app in Applications/Utilities should give you more info on which apps and processes are using lots of Memory.

    CPU_in_Activity_Monitor.png

This squeezed down view of the Memory page may also help.

As you can see I am using over 3Gbs worth of my 4Gb

I have the OS running (Obviously) then Firefox, Mail and Skitch (to alter the pics) as well as Little Snitch in the background.

Try running this program and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.
