Sep 12, 2016 1:01 PM in response to jgiesby Drew Reece,Well you have managed to post to this community so something works.
The iPhone community is at…
It might help if you provided a link to the page where it tells you the error - I suspect you may be posting to a forum that is not allowed for whatever reason.

Sep 12, 2016 3:21 PM in response to jgiesby turingtest2,Post to Using iPhone. The object called iPhone is a container for other communities but you cannot post to it directly.

Sep 13, 2016 8:32 AM in response to jgiesby Drew Reece,★HelpfulYou need to scroll inside the list & find the relevant section to post into. You may need to dig into the 'sub spaces' in order to find the right place. There are extra categories that appear out of alphabetical order at the bottom too.
That UI is terrible but these support communities cover so many categories it's hard to see how to improve it. I guess it would be helpful be to create a 'start discussion' button in each sub-section such as 'Using iPhone'.
You could try posting feedback to Apple (seems to be down for me at the moment)…
Once you select a topic can you post?
Frankly a moderator may fix your issue if you post to the wrong area anyway, I would add a note to the bottom of the post.

Sep 13, 2016 8:34 AM in response to Drew Reeceby jgies,Thank you,
None of the "categories seemed appropriate to my question (how to remove music from I phone without affecting iTunes and how to avoid syncing iTunes when charging phone from laptop.)
I will follow your advice and submit feedback. We can sometimes make things a little more complex than needed.
Thanks

Sep 13, 2016 9:46 AM in response to jgiesby turingtest2,In your image above the greyed lines in a italics which start with a no entry sign are the first level of organization where you cannot post, you need one of the blue community lines.
Since the question is about iPhone and iTunes, either of Using iPhone, iTunes for Mac, or iTunes for Windows would be suitable but since you'll want advice for your specific version of iTunes it might be best to use whichever of the last two applies.
The answer to the question about removing media depends on whether the device is synced, manually managed, or you have either Apple Music or iTunes Match and have enabled iCloud Music Library on the device.
As for the second question use either ITunes > Preferences > Devices (Mac) or Edit > Preferences > Devices (Win) and then tick the box that reads Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically. When a device is connected you can also view the device's summary page to make sure (if you wish) that iTunes doesn't launch automatically when the device is connected.

Sep 13, 2016 10:12 AM in response to jgiesby ChitlinsCC,One thing to remember is NOT to bundle more than one issue/subject into a single new discussion = you describe two, and each would be comfortably "filed" in different forums as tt2 suggests
