Q: how do I reload a safari update

I need to reload Safari 9.1.3 update (9/1/2016). It is no longer available to me in my "updates". I can not find a download file.

MacBook Air (11-inch Mid 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Once an update is installed it's not possible to reinstall it.

What exactly is prompting you to reload Safari 9.1.3  ??

Have you checked in your Purchases page of the App Store assuming you download it from there. You may not be permitted to download it since you already have the updated version installed. You would need to delete the copy you have, reinstall 9.1.2, re-download the 9.1.3 updater and install it. However, if you do not have a copy of Safari 9.1.2 then you can only get it by re-installing your current version of OS X.

Reinstall El Capitan Without Erasing Drive

Please be sure you back up.

    1. Restart the computer. Immediately after the chime hold down the Command and R keys until the Utility Menu appears.
    2. Select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button.
    3. Select the indented (usually, Macintosh HD) volume entry from the the side list.
    4. Click on the First Aid icon in the toolbar. Wait until the Done button activates, then click on it.
    5. Quit Disk Utility and return to the Utility Menu.
    6. Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.

Yikes sounds like allot to do for this mistake I made.  I accidentally deleted the CVE-2016-4657 files that came with the update. Maybe I'll go in search of those 2 files. Thank you!

Those have no effect on whether Safari works or not.

Thank you. I know safari will still work but I wanted the security that those files provide.

They don't provide any security. They just relate to what the upgrade provides. The only file you want is the security update installer file. The CVE-2016-4657 just describes the vulnerability that the update addresses.

Try running the combo update. It installs all previous updates plus the new one, which can replace any files that may have become corrupted.
