Q: Macbook pro lid kept closed? how?

I have a Macbook Pro retina 2015  and a Thunderbolt 27 display screen.

How can I keep the Macbook Pro closed on a stand?   without opening it to turn off and on every time I use it?

I have seen many people do this, so I know its possible?  what do people do at the end of the day when they finish work?  and how do they get the screen to come on a agin the next time?  without touching the macbook pro!

Please can someone advise.
