Q: how can I archive and save my calendars? data disappears after a year

I find it problematic that all my calendar information disappears after a year. I don't want to have everything repeat annually as it would be confusing in many instances, but I do want to  save dates, places, etc. is there any way to archive it and save it for future use? thanks!
