Sep 13, 2016 12:33 PM in response to Ashlyn Irizarryby machz990,You need to leave your phone alone and connect it to a computer with the latest version of iTunes on it. Mine did the same thing and it was recovered by connecting to iTunes with no loss of data.

Sep 13, 2016 12:53 PM in response to Ashlyn Irizarryby machz990,★HelpfulThe problem is playing with the phone when it showed connect to iTunes on the screen. When you have the connect to iTunes screen connect to the latest version of iTunes and wait. Your iPhone will show up as an unidentified device and it will contact Apple to verify the software and then attempt to revert back to your old IOS version. It takes a while. Be patient. Don't do a reset of your iPhone with the power and home button. Just connect to iTunes when you have the connect to iTunes image on the screen. Have iTunes open when you connect to the computer. It should see the device after it connects.

Sep 13, 2016 1:01 PM in response to Ashlyn Irizarryby indigobox,machz990 process should work for you. The only thing I would add to the above is that you don't want to select Setup as a new phone or restore when iTunes prompts you. Control the upgrade at that point from your phone where it says Hallo etc. Otherwise you risk the option of restoring your device to factory default.
The process I went for is this and it was successful for me as a part of the upgrade option for iOS 10.0.1 without going back to iOS 9.3.5 and didn't restore (everything was left intact - Photos / iMessages etc)
- Turn the device off
- Plug the cable in the Mac / PC
- Hold the home button and plug the cable into the device
It will then be in Recovery Mode.
- Press Update
It will download this in the background and throw lots of errors as it is trying to download. It took around 1 hour to download on my system.
- Update then unpacked the download and went through updating successfully.NOTE
Because I have never plugged it into my iMac before it wants to restore or set up as a new phone. I have ignored this and just controlled the phone and it went through fine, everything still on the device, without restoring.
Hope this helps.
CJ.

Sep 13, 2016 1:00 PM in response to Ashlyn Irizarryby machz990,Since you didn't back up your phone before the upgrade then you have to decide between losing all your data and a trip to the Apple Store. If you decide to go to the Apple Genius Bar make an appt. as I'm sure they will be busy.

Sep 13, 2016 1:09 PM in response to Ashlyn Irizarryby machz990,After you are all done you can delete the backup file from within iTunes. Go to iTunes > Preferences > Devices and find the device you want to delete.

Sep 13, 2016 1:13 PM in response to Ashlyn Irizarryby machz990,I guess I'm not following you. I thought you were using your Dad's laptop to recover your iPhone but you didn't want to leave a copy on his laptop. It doesn't matter that you have a backup of your phone on your laptop. The process would be the same to delete the device from either computer but I don't understand why you want to do that.
