Q: Music: Why are Star Ratings gone???

Apple, I have been using iTunes since 1.0, and Apple music players since the first iPod. The primary way I sort my music is by rating all of my songs, so I can quickly make playlists based on my five-star songs (for example). And I frequently listen to playlists of my unrated songs, so I can rate them appropriately.

This functionality is gone in iOS 10.

I used to tap the song title (in iOS 8 and earlier) or the album art (in iOS 9) to bring up the Star rating for a song. It was quick and easy, and allowed me to rate my songs while I'm away from home. As of iOS 10, tapping the album artwork does...nothing. The Star functionality has been removed completely.

Can you tell me why this was done? You have removed an essential part of the music experience for no good reason. And it's not like that operation has been replaced with anything. It's just gone.

This is making me regret upgrading to iOS 10, and I've been looking forward to this release for months. This is taking away something I've used religiously since the very first iPod.

Please, bring back Star Ratings on iOS 10! Please!

I don´t have iOS X yet, but if the star rating its gone, will be one of the reason to leave iTunes.....

Im having problems to see the stars ratings on my library: 200gb of music which I methodically rate in all this years....

IT JUST A SHAME to hide them, to force us to use "loves" or whatever they want to do, but I really will be VERY VERY UNHAPPY if this is not fixed in future, I think this is a TOTALLY SHAME.....

First, you're really not addressing Apple here, this is a user-to-user forum for helping each other.  Occasionally Apple employees will chime in, but don't expect that.  The proper way to get their attention is to submit feedback:

    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Like you, I've been a long-time iTunes user and rely heavily on song ratings to have a finer control over what gets synced to my devices.  Loved, Disliked, and <unclassified> are not sufficient if that is Apple's intention now.  So please provide feedback at the link above, hopefully enough people will complain loud enough for star ratings to come back to iOS in a future update.

For now you can still rate songs in iTunes, and you can use Siri to rate songs on your iPhone (not very practical though).  Hopefully this was just an oversight, but I suspect not since all iOS 10 betas had no star rating accessibility.

Yes, in iTunes.  But the issue is iOS 10 ... no way to view or apply star ratings (other than Siri, which is a poor workaround IMO).
