It looks like you are getting an error when deleting emails after you've changed the password for an alias account. Since the alias account is used as a virtual email for a primary account, you should try updating the password for the alias' primary email account in the Mail app and the Internet Account settings via the System Preferences.
In your System Preferences:
1. Click on Internet Accounts
2. Highlight the primary account that needs the password updated
3. Enter the new password
4. Close System preferences.
In the Mail App:
1. Click on the Mail preferences in the Mail Menu Bar.
2. Select the Accounts tab.
3. Highlight the account that needs the password updated.
4. Enter the new password.
Updating the password in these 2 locations on your Mac should have that error message gone in no time. Thanks for using Apple Support Communities to post your question.
Have a nice day. -

Sep 15, 2016 9:04 AM in response to David Grantby JayB.,Thanks for trying the suggestions. Try logging into this account through Safari with the updated password then verify that you have the correct server settings. You might need to connect with the email service provider concerning the mail server error to get the correct server settings. After that is acquired, try removing the email account then re-add it with the correct server settings.
You can save your Mailboxes by exporting them to your desktop before removing the account. The links below will assist you with the suggestions I made.
Mail Settings Lookup
Mail (El Capitan): Import or export mailboxes
Mail (El Capitan): Set up Mail with your email accounts
This should have your email account up and running in no time at all. Have a great day.
