Q: #iOS10 Home button has to be pressed to unlock

Before iOS10, it was enough only to touch the home button in order to unlock and open the device, now I have to press it. This isn't an enhancement at all.

You are mistaken. It has always been necessary to press the home button to wake the screen from sleep and allow your fingerprint to grant you access to the device. From a sleeping screen, the home button has never performed any function at all unless actually pressed.

I'm not mistaken, may be I only didn't explain it more. I can get the iPhone to wake by pressing the main switch no only the home button or whenever there's an active push notification, by then it was only enough to touch the sensor not pressing it, in order to unlock and open the device.

No need to answer to him. He's an apple apologetic. Will tell you how you are wrong and if you don't like it, you can buy an android phone.

But to answer your question, you are right. Apple's stupid engineers are now forcing us to use the home button more frequently. But I do have an answer as to why. So, it can be used more and therefore it'll stop work sooner. That alone will make you want to buy a new phone or repair it. But you can't repair the home button yourself but you need Apple and Apple only at a high price if you do not have applecare.

    Shady move to be honest

I think you bought a tin foil hat that's about 3 sizes too small.

This looks logic You might be correct, I'm that type of people who really don't like to click the home button for no reason

New in iOS 10, go to Settings> General> Accessibility> Rest Finger to Open> ON

Two things that always goes on an iphone:

    - fingerprint reader/home button

    - power button

And the settings to bypass that is buried deep in settings.

The iPhone 7 isn't a significant update from the 6s as the 6s was from the 6. Then, you get that error where if you change the display or change the home button, it will be forever disabled unless apple fixes it for you for a hefty fee.

I've had an iPhone ever since the 3gs came out.

Edit: someone beat me to the bypass hahaha

Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Home Button -> Rest Finger to Open

The iPhone 7's home button is now solid state. No moving parts.

You need a new conspiracy theory.

Thank you iAwwad, I did disable, enabale, ph reboot but still have to press twice to unlock phone. btw, i am using Passcode as well so pressing home button twice prompts me to enter my passcode.

Am i doing it right? I just need to press home button once to get the passcode screen before now its twice

    Hi Baddie,

It really works with also one click only I get the Passcode prompt.

mmm I think there's a misunderstanding, you need to get the device awake first, then you touch the home button.

You just need to raise the iPhone it should wake-up then touch the home button slightly.

Using an iPhone6 with iOS10 it makes no difference wether "home button" "put finger on" is on or off.

I have finger print activated and I have to press the home button once to wake the phone up and than I can put on finger on the home button for scan the finger print.

    For me there's no difference.

As well as I can't find any solution to activate the phone by picking it up from the table. Maybe that only works with iPhone 6s or 7?!
