Hello. I'm interested in getting a Macbook Pro and I was wondering what is the best flash storage to get that is the same as a 750gb hard drive?

Which model of MacBook Pro are you looking at buying? This will determine what options you have available for drive upgrades.

Flash is solid, non-moving storage, such as a stick of ram. It is used for storage, just like an HDD, yet the HDD has moving parts and transfers data slower.

If you're buying a computer with the SSD installed from the factory, then you're on the right path. However, I would not recommend upgrading a current older computer with an SSD, as it may cause issues with formatting, installing the OS, and other processes. You can also damage the laptop with static by opening it.

All new Mac's come with SSD on board. A 750GB SSD is the same storage capacity as a 750GB HD.

    You can compare models: http://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/macbook-pro

If it is an older computer, it will breath a new  life into your computer experience by upgrading to a third party SSD.  Highly recommended.  There are plenty of how to videos on the macsales.com web site.

Formating a SSD is the same as formatting any HD.

Swapping out HD/SSD is easy to do, you can read more : How to create a boot clone

I'm looking into the 13" MacBook Pro with Intel Core i5. Should I go for 256gb or 512gb on flash storage? Cause I put decent amount of pictures and videos from my phone. And I have about 1,000 songs on iTunes, most of it from Apple Music.

I wasn't planning to install an SSD to my current laptop. I'm planning on buying a MacBook for the first time.

I always say that one can never have too much storage.  Opt for the 512GB SSD.

Now if you are purchasing a new 13" MBP, order it with the standard HDD.  Then buy a good quality third party SSD (Crucial or OWC) to replace the HDD.

The net result will be that you will have a 'free' HDD for outboard storage and the replacement SSD will cost much less than what Apple charges for SSD upgrades.

    Ciao.

The model MacBook Pro I'm looking to buy is a 13" display screen and a flash storage between 256gb and 512gb. I have over 1,000 songs on iTunes and about 300 of photos and videos from my phone, and I need to know which flash storage amount I should go for between the 256 and 512.
