Thank you for the respons. It is a disaster. It seems that apple makes one step forward and two backwards.

THe main difference between listening my music on an iPhone was that I was able to rate with stars My music. Now it is the same. Thanks apple. You are getting closer to android every time.

    it is a disaste!

Let just hope they bring it back in a future update ... In the meantime, one of my iphones is going to remain on ios9.

There is a way to do it but the new Music app is a complete disaster for those of us that use track ratings in smart playlists.

The only way to rate tracks is to use Siri.  While a track is playing initiate Siri and say "rate this track four stars" or whatever rating you want.  Siri will then rate the track.  While this works as a "hack" there are several major issues to this:

    1) You still can't see the rating for the track in the music app.

    2) Activating Siri will pause the track and you have to talk, which may be embarrassing in public.

    3) If you have smart playlists based on the rating (that you just changed) the track will instantly disappear from the playlist and the music app (probably because it already lost focus when you entered Siri) will advance to the next track.  This is annoying when you are mid track as you never get to finish the music.

So far for me, iOS10 is a major downgrade in basic music functionality.  It's been getting worse since iOS7.  I honestly feel iOS6 was one of the best music apps if memory serves right.

Thanks but not an acceptable workaround for me. It does not work most of the time. Siri does not like my accent.

That's not an effective way to get our voices heard, tell Apple at this link:

Just did - best way to get something done is to all hit them up this way.

I am looking for this too. Seems Apple is going to successfully destroy everything good they created. Because they "have the courage". In IOS 9 they rating action was modified too, now is no where to be found. Why? Designers are getting dumper and dumper!

You can only do it via Siri. You can say "rate this song 5 stars", etc.

Problem is, the song is in playback and the playback pauses when you ask Siri to add the star rating.

Puzzling move by Apple to remove the ability to tap artwork and rate a song.

Thanks. I already used your link with the following comment..

I do believe that one of your main advantage of IOS  iTunes vs Android was to classify your music by allocating the number of stars. To lisen hi res audio I bought sony walkmans and other friends have Samsung phones. We all use m3u players to transfer and listen to our music in iTunes. However, IOS devises were the only ones in being able to rate our songs.

With IOS 10 now we no longer can rate with stars our songs in order to create smart play list or live update in the play list.

I truly don't understand why you took it out in IOS 10 but with no doubt you are making android more competitive against IOS with this measures.

I do hope you will re consider bringing our capabilities to rate our songs in an IOS device.

I do hope many of us can feed back apple in the above link.
