Q: Updated to iOS 10 Battery usage high

Is it just me? Or has battery usage been impacted by iOS 10?

In 2 hours, my iPhone 6 went from 100% charged to 75% while in "standby".

Maybe just an anomaly; is anyone else seeing a dramatic change in battery life?

Did you already force restart the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Appel logo comes back again? You will not lose data by doing this, but it can cure some glitches after installing new software.

Also, there might still be some background activity going on as a result of the firmware update.

iPhone 5 with a relatively new battery, bad drain all the time since the update. It's been a day and there isn't much on my phone that could get indexed and I restarted a couple of times. I'll do a complete reset later but I'm seeing many reports popping up from people with the same issue.

I Have noticed that when I use the navigation in the iOS 10 maps that the battery drain is way too much. The battery usage section in settings confirms this. Strange that something so obvious was not caught after the many beta versions. Seems like each major release always has a battery drain issue. Clue...check this before releasing to the public. Back to Google maps for now.

ME too.  It's 3pm. I am down to 55%. I normally charge every night and it lasts all day. I'll have to charge again. Normally I'd be 75-80% now.

I also have the same issue with an iPhone 5. The battery has drained very rapidly today. It is on the charger and I will try the restart that has been suggested as soon as it is charged. I hope it helps. Quite annoying.

It’s not iOS 10 of course. “Clue...check this before releasing to the public.” That’s a laughable statement considering there were millions upon millions of beta testers, both public and developers, before release. Funny none of those millions saw increased battery drain. Funny I myself am not seeing any increased battery drain.

    The force restart helped. Thanks.

Did the people who complained about these issues also get your standard reply? Did you laugh at them?

    • Addresses an issue that could prevent headphone audio controls from temporarily not working
    • Resolves an issue that caused Photos to quit for some users when turning on iCloud Photo Library
    • Fixes an issue that prevented enabling some app extensions

Face it no body is perfect. What happened to the customer is always right, not the customer's issues should be laughed at. It looks like the battery/map issue may be fixed by a hard reset. I would consider that an iOS issue, and if that is the fix for most things why not have a message pop up after an upgrade for the customers to do a hard reset before moving forward? I suspect the beta teams do hard resets all the time and that is why none of you experienced the issue(s).
