Q: No 5 Star Song Rating in iOS 10

What is going on? Did Apple really remove the 5 Star Song Rating from the Music App in iOS 10. I can only find Like and Dislike. Well I have been using iTunes since it was SoundJam, and have been rating my songs using the 5 Stars, and making various Playlists based on those. And I have always used Music on iOS to rate songs, but not having that really drives me insane. It seems to be Apple thinking they are smarter than everyone once again, but not being right! I am not going to go through my 40,000+ music Library and rerate my mysic so simply! I might as well move to Windows and Android and re-rate there! Seriously this is taking my main featute out of the music player! You have to be kidding me!

I'd recommend submitting this to apple.com/feedback. It's an issue that would be affective there yet may not reach the right audience here.

I already have, but am hoping that more people see this as a problem and will also do the same.

+1 ... This is critical to my music cataloging. Bring it back immediately. (logged Feedback too)

This is one of the best features that the Music app on the iPhone had. Being able to rate your music on the go and to pull up the lyrics of a song as you listen to it.  I don't understand why they would even consider eliminating it.

There is a way to do it but the new Music app is a complete disaster for those of us that use track ratings in smart playlists.

The only way to rate tracks is to use Siri.  While a track is playing initiate Siri and say "rate this track four stars" or whatever rating you want.  Siri will then rate the track.  While this works as a "hack" there are several major issues to this:

    1) You still can't see the rating for the track in the music app.

    2) Activating Siri will pause the track and you have to talk, which may be embarrassing in public.

    3) If you have smart playlists based on the rating (that you just changed) the track will instantly disappear from the playlist and the music app (probably because it already lost focus when you entered Siri) will advance to the next track.  This is annoying when you are mid track as you never get to finish the music.

So far for me, iOS10 is a major downgrade in basic music functionality.  It's been getting worse since iOS7.  I honestly feel iOS6 was one of the best music apps if memory serves right.

Same here. I've logged feedback also, but this is a big deal. Love/Dislike is not useful for music you own. Why would I keep it and mark it as "dislike"? Please bring back the star ratings immediately!

Same problem here, I use smart playlists and I rate my tracks from my iPhone.. I add 1 star for the songs I want to delete and I tried to replace the 1 star with the "dislike" one. There is no "dislike" parameter in the smart lists cause If I choose Love is false the list will be all the non loved tracks and not the dislike ones. If someone knows how to use the "dislike" parameter in a smart playlist I will be happy

Yea, I have seen Apple remove useful features before, but this is a feature that is literally central to my usage of iTunes and Music. I have different playlists based on different ratings of tracks, and really use all the different ratings. I have hated that it kept taking more clicks to rate songs, but to remove something that has been so fundamental in many people's usage of iTunes for years seems insane. And it isn't like there would be a great way to transfer 5 star ratings over to like and dislike.

I just hope enough people report this to Apple and they return this feature. Honestly if I had a choice I would turn like and dislike off entirely and just have the 5 star rating system.

If you haven't done so already, please let Apple know that you want the star ratings back on iOS 10:
