Q: Optimize iPhone Storage
Hello Everyone! I have iPhone 5s 16GB and I take many pictures of my baby so one day I had to turn
Optimize iPhone Storage
option on. However my policy has changed since then and now I upload my photos and videos to Dropbox on regular basis and I delete them from my iPhone. So now I don't need this option turned on and I prefer to store full res originals of my recent photos. When I switch to
Download and Keep Originals
nothing changes. Neither iPhone downloads original photos from iCloud, nor new photos are stored in full res. I want to point out that I have >3GB of free space, so this is not an issue. I also noticed that iPhone switches back to
Optimize iPhone Storage
on its own.
Does anybody know is it possible to:
- force iPhone to store originals of new photos and videos and possibly
- download originals of already stored photos and videos from iCloud?
Best regards
iPhone 5s, iOS 10

You must be out of usable storage on your device.
There is no "recent photos" option. With iCloud Photo Library, it's the full library or nothing.
If you are now moving your photos to Dropbox, why use iCloud Photo Library at all?
