Q: Change Sort in Mac Photos

I'm using Photos in El Capitan. At the top the "Photos" tab is selected. I want to change the sort to "newest photos first", but the "Sort" menu items only shows "Keep Sorted By Oldest First" and it's grayed out with no other options. What's up with that? And how do I change this?

Mac Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Int-20 GB Ram

You can't.  The Photos view is sorted by date taken (along with location) with the newest Photos at the bottom of the window.  It's fixed.

The All Photos view is sorted by date added to the library with the newest photos at the bottom.

If you want to change the sort order use album as they can be sorted by title or date, ascending or descending:

What is up with that? Simple - there are no options -the only sort in Photos by date with oldest first

You can not change that - you can do a work around by making a smart album that all photos meet like date is before 1/1/1000 and then you can sort that smart album by date ascending or descending or by title (ad you can all user and smart albums)
