Q: How to send mail from alias address
I'm on El Capitan. I'm trying to send an email from the mac app, not icloud, using an alias I already have. I've found out how to do this in icloud. When I try to write a new email in the mac app, it opens a blank email with only a To address and Subject fields, no From address. There is an apple help thing about it which says -
- In the Subject field, type a subject for the email.
- Click the From pop-up menu, then choose an alias email address. This is the address that the recipient will see.
But I can't see any 'pop-up menu' for the alias. I've tried doing Control-click on the blank email form and 'customise toolbar', but I don't see anything which might be for the From field. Please can anyone help.
Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

As far as I can tell, you can't choose the alias to use in the From popup. Actually this only appears if you have more than one account, and lets you choose which account to use (not which alias from any given account).
You can, however, select which alias is active for the icloud account in Mail->Preferences->Accounts->Account Information. I don't think you can do this on a message by message basis.
