Sep 14, 2016 3:53 AM in response to tnorrisby crashcris,On my Itunes 12.5.1.12 all my artist thumbnails are missing, all except for U2! Which happens to be the only artist Apple gave as a free download. All my other music I own on CD and have ripped to itunes. Strangely enough, on my Iphone using the new ios10, about half the artist thumbnails are present. These are not even images of album artwork but of portraits of the artists which I have never downloaded so must have been generated by Itunes. Previously, all the artists showed some sort of image in the thumbnails, I include a screenshot from my iphone and macbook. I'm no OCD perfectionist, however, I does now look scrappy and I don't think much of these latest updates so far.

Sep 14, 2016 5:14 AM in response to RammyMacby jasondhughes,Completely agree - seeing the same thing myself. I like to have the artwork for all of my albums in iTunes and hence synced to my devices. Removing this functionality is a backward step and is ludicrous - sort it out Apple!

Sep 14, 2016 6:20 AM in response to tnorrisby Lisa GTO,I have the same problem too. I also noticed that some of the artists without pictures on my computer iTunes, have pictures on the music on my iPhone. It seems there are more artist pictures on my iPhone.

Sep 14, 2016 8:05 AM in response to Ian Kelleighby Ian Kelleigh,I can also confirm that on my iPhone, some of the same artists in my original screenshot do have portraits, but don't in iTunes. So whatever they are doing, it's not working correctly in iTunes.
And in either case, it's inconsistent and broken. For example, on my iPhone why do more obscure artists like Hot Chip or Sigur Ros have portraits, but The Ramones or Red Hot Chilli Peppers do not?
We should be able to either A) Customize the artist portrait, or B) Toggle back to album covers for the artist portraits.

Sep 14, 2016 8:02 AM in response to tnorrisby Dannyg177,*** Apple? Like seriously, ***? How are you going to destroy the aesthetic of the Music app AND our iTunes library by doing this? It's a complete lack of care to all the music lovers out there, and frankly, with a move like this, makes me want to leave this ecosystem.
It's the principle of the matter.

Sep 14, 2016 8:14 AM in response to Ian Kelleighby soonerfan591,I agree with Ian. This whole thing looks like a hot mess. First of all, the album cover art on my Mac is now 3 ½" square now. It takes up WAY too much real estate. There needs to be a way to adjust the size of the cover art.
The artist thumbnail problem is another mess. Some artist faces show up on my iPhone but not on my Mac. What up that!?
For several years now, I've wished they would stick the "All Artists" button at the top of the artist list. Would eliminate a lot of scrolling up and down.

Sep 14, 2016 8:19 AM in response to RammyMacby Dannyg177,Its inconsistent between the iPhone on iOS 10 and the new iTunes.
It just doesn't make any sense.

Sep 14, 2016 9:45 AM in response to RammyMacby Bob D926,Could not agree more! Looks and functions horribly, especially when which artist pics are displayed appears to be random, so as I scan down the column there is no logic to which artists have pictures and which have the uber-ugly pink & purple microphone logo. And BTW, 99% of my library was purchased from Apple.
Apple--fix this inconsistent ugliness ASAP, please.

Sep 14, 2016 10:57 AM in response to RammyMacby poikkeus1,This explains why Artist View is having problems with missing photos. The article isn't current, but the info is still valuable:

Sep 14, 2016 12:13 PM in response to .pwby turingtest2,I'm inclined to agree that most artist images are useless for the task of visually identifying the artist from the image rather than the text. If the feature is going to be there users ought to get an option to choose the image, or at the very least switch to a representative album cover.

Sep 14, 2016 12:15 PM in response to tnorrisby czymaupy,ITunes looks good until this update. Apple has taken a very bad decisions in relation to the covers and album's backgrounds. Instead of facilitating management my music, they start to make it difficult...
