Q: Will Apple reinstall apps no longer available in app store when updating?

I'm installing iOS 10 on a 16gb iPad and it has to uninstall 39 apps in order to do that.  It says "they will be reinstalled when the update is complete."  However, I have at least one app that is no longer in the app store that I want to keep. Will that one be reinstalled as well?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 9.3.5

    It should be.

I Did my update via iTunes, so it backed my ipad up and restored it as part of the update progress. I know I have at least one game that is no longer in the app store that is still own my iPad.

I ask this because I really don't know, but was this game in your iTunes library on your computer? If it was, that is where it restored/synced from, would be my assumption.

I'm gonna guess it's in the library. this game has been out of the app store for a couple of years now and has been migrated from device to device and through iOS updates.

I Don't use iCloud backups to know if the app will or won't survive. The only other thing I have to support it surviving is that the forum isn't full of people upset because the upgrade took off their old app and they can't get it back. As may people have to restore on an average day, I would imagine that the issue would be a big one if it came up.
