Q: Apple Configuration 2.3 cannot prepare multiple devices if one or more fail

When trying to prepare multiple iPhones at once and there is an iOS locked device or an iPhone that's missing a sim card and you attempt to skip it to the next window when it fails during preparation - it thinks that the non-ios locked/simless iphones are prepared when they are not. Is there another way around this?

Apple Configurator 2.3 thinks the iOS 10.0.1 devices are prepared when they are not during preparation, and I'm only able to stop or erase the devices. If I do one at a time it works fine. The previous version of Apple Configurator did not have this issue.

This is a feature that Apple Configurator 2.3 states in it's feature list that it's able to do.

I have the same problem. I should not update AC. I really like AC2.2 no bugs for me. AC 2.3 is full of them. I am trying to wipe devices and it fails each time. We use PowerSync D20 Bretford USB hubs with Macbook Pro . We were erasing and preparing without issues 20 devices with AC2.2 but now it is failing with AC2.3. Whats going on here? Preparing is the worst with AC2.3 and iOS10.0.1 , it tells me that devices are prepared but they are not because they were erased. I can only stop or erase the devices. Any ideas ? Please help. Thx.

I'm in a similar boat. I tried out the erase button and it's not that bad. I think it just erases the content (which there really shouldn't be any right after a restore). So if you hit restore it erases the non-existent data and then does the normal prepare function. They just have really bad terminology.

I'm still struggling with the restore being ****. I try to restore 3 phones at a time and maybe only 1 of them works. I did find that if you go to File and then New Window - you can run multiple instances of restore.

This error happened after I updated iTunes to 12.5.1 and Apple Configurator to 2.3. It was working perfectly with Apple configurator 2.2.1 . Now it is disaster. Still waiting for email from Apple. Logs were sent after they respond to me. In mean while , if you know how to fix it, please let us know.  This error shows on each MAcBook Pro .

I have not found any solutions yet or received any email from apple . I am looking for old version of AC and I would like to go back to that version AC 2.2.1 . I tried "Automation Tools" - command line cfgutil but this does exactly the same thing. It will restore 1-3 ios devices out of 20. On top of that I did fresh install of new macOs Sierra with itunes 12.5.1 and AC2.3 or without iTunes . It did not work either . I tried many tricks from command line but this did not help either. It must be something wrong with AC2.3 , I am sure there are more big companies , schools or admins with exactly the same issue. They have to provide feedback thru Apple Configurator , otherwise AC will not be fixed by Apple AC Team.

I've found another program/company called GroundControl website: groundctl.com. Unfortunately it's a service that costs...

I still haven't fully got this one to work yet. At this point I'm not expecting Apple to update their program.

Yes, I heared about groundctl.com. We won't change anything now, it is similar to DEP program .
