    Hello mae.d,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Community. I understand your texts have been slowing moving since the update, and I'd love to help. If you haven't already it's always a good idea to power cycle your iPhone by pressing and holding the Sleep/Button and then sliding to power down. After restarting if the issue persists let's sign out of Messages and back in. You can do so by going to Settings > Messages. Tap in your Apple ID and select "Sign out".

Afterwards restart again and sign back in. If the issue persists, let us know if the symptoms return or if you see any type of error message. The entire community is here to help.

    Best Regards.

    Hi mae.d,

Since signing out did not fix the behavior, the next step we would recommend is resetting all settings on your device.  You may still wish to backup your settings data to iTunes or iCloud before doing this reset. This link will guide you through backing up if you choose to do so :
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

What this effectively does is reset some of your settings to factory default. This does not remove any data like apps, photos or contacts, but It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Touch ID, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy, so you may have to set those things back up after this reset.

To do this please go to Settings >  General > Reset > Reset All Settings.

After your phone restarts, be sure to reconnect to you Wi-Fi and then test messages again. Let us know if you run into any trouble.
    Cheers
