Q: Multiple displays

I have a Thunderbolt display on my MacBook Pro Mid 2012; how can I add another display? I would like to close my Macbook and have 2 27" monitors, unfortunately, Apple is no longer making the Thunderbolt display. SO, I am trying to figure out what monitor I can purchase and how to connect?

You can get a USB video adapter like this

You can also get a adopter that connected to the Thundrbolt port (which mean yo can no longer use your thunderbolt monitor)
