Q: Music will not even open when no signal.

I Have a spotty cell service where I live. When driving to work and I am in one of these no service areas,   my music will not even open. I have saved music To be played offline, but the screen will not even open. If I am in a "dead zone" )no cell signal) the music won't even open.  It just searches. I can not get it to open until I have service again.

Really? Argh! this will be a nightmare when I travel through the mountains of Colorado.  Looks like I'll be getting my Nano out of retirement.

I found that if I put my phone into airplane mode, the music app opens and works just fine with downloaded music.  I have not been able to test this with cellular and wifi on but no signal.  Perhaps you can test with airplane mode so see if that will allow you to run the app?

I tried your suggestion this morning and it worked.

    Thank you!

I'm glad it worked,  It's good to know for when I head into the mountains.

Obviously Apple had programmed the app to wait for data if the is an active wifi or cellular signal - even though there may be no reception.  Whereas in airplane mode, they obviously skip that part.

I would recommend submitting feedback for this though (through www.apple.com\feedback) as a bug because we should not need to switch to airplane mode and the app should be intelligent enough to switch to no-network mode if it can't get a data response within so many seconds.
