Q: Mail message window does not open

This morning as usual I started Mail.app and nothing the message window did not appear. I restarted still no message window! I safeboot which did not help. Now the only way I can get my mail is to log in to icloud.com and read it in Safari.

Is there any fix for this?

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11), Also uses an iPad

Linc Davis mentioned a fix that worked very well for my problem. Go to the Mail folder in the user's Library folder and look for V3. In that folder are two files that need to be trashed. One is titled Envelope Index and the other is ExternalUpdates.storedata. Trash those and restart Mail. In my case the message window magically reappeared (as did every other window including Preferences - none of which would appear on command before the fix.

As usual, thank you very much Linc!
