Sep 14, 2016 10:45 AM in response to Colonel_Klinckby LarryHN,It is not gone - when you connect the phone prior to import you can check the delete after import box to the right of the Phone in the Photos source list
However it is not a recommended workflow as an untimely crash of either the phone or the Mac can lose photos - it is much better to import and be sure the photos are safe and that at least one backup cycle has completed and then use Image Capture to delete them

Sep 14, 2016 11:30 PM in response to LarryHNby Colonel_Klinck,Solved it. It must have been a bug. I didn't have the sidebar view option on. As soon as I turned it back on the "delete items after import" reappeared. It remains regardless if I have sidebar view option on or off now.
Looked like this before.

Sep 15, 2016 9:01 AM in response to Colonel_Klinckby léonie,The option to delete after import will also be missing, if you enable iCloud Photo Library on the iPhone. Then the Mac cannot delete the photos from the iPhone, since they are hosted on iCloud.
