Q: Photos remain in iPhone even after importing to Photos app on Mac.

I use an iPhone 6S (iOS 9) and a MacBook Pro 15-inch Retina (El Capitan).

I've setup iCloud Photo Library on both devices and nearly all my photos have moved into iCloud Photo Library and accessible via both devices. However, whenever I connect my iPhone to my Mac, in the Photos app (Mac) Import tab, there are 356 photos that show as not imported. Even if I select these photos and import them to the Photos app on my Mac, once I disconnect my iPhone and reconnect it to the Mac, the same 356 photos show up again in the Import tab of the photos app.

How do I get rid of these photos? The date range of the photos vary from 2001 to 2007, so locating them amongst nearly 6000+ photo library is impractical.

Your support on this is much appreciated.

Thanks you!

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.3.5

I've setup iCloud Photo Library on both devices and nearly all my photos have moved into iCloud Photo Library and accessible via both devices.

The import by USB will give you random results, if you are using iCloud Photo Library on the iPhone. Use only the transfer by iCloud.

The problem is, that photo library on the iPhone is using iCloud to store the photos and only downloading  some of the photos from iCloud to keep locally. You will see only what is currently in the camera roll, when you connect the iPhone, plus the Photo Stream, if My Photo Stream is enabled. It you are always seeing exactly the same duplicates, try. to disable My Photo Stream on the iPhone.

Don't use iCloud Photo Library on the iPhone, if you want to transfer manually by USB, but wait for new photos to transfer by iCloud.

Thanks so much, Léonie. Taking your advise into consideration, I will delete those photos from the Camera Roll since they're already in my Mac via iCloud (will backup just to be safe). Then see if the issue persists. Thanks again.

Thank you for your reply, Larry.

Yes, I am aware of that. However, there are 356 photos in my iPhone, regardless of being available on other devices via ICPL, still show in the Import tab once I connect it to the Photos app on my Mac. Even if I port them and delete from the iPhone, once I disconnect and reconnect the iPhone to the Photos app on Mac, the same 356 photos still show up in the Import tab of the Photos app on Mac.
