This was a huge mistake. Hopefully you now realize this.
You will likely have to get that relative's passcode. Once you finish this, do Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings so you can start the whole process over and make this your iPhone.

Sep 14, 2016 10:28 PM in response to Fl0w27by sberman,You are being asked for a passcode on an otherwise brand new device. What other passcode could it be other than your relative's passcode? Have him enter it or learn it and enter it yourself.
Then reset the device as new, as it clearly is not set up as a new device now. If it were a new device, it would not ask you to enter a passcode. (It may well ask you to set a passcode once it's set up as new.)

Sep 15, 2016 12:50 AM in response to Fl0w27by sberman,Is it still asking for a passcode (that you did not set)?
If not, it sounds like your issue is solved.
If it is still requiring a passcode, then you would need it from your relative.
