But you could check the mat that you are using in case it is soiled in some way or even try putting down a sheet of off white paper or card and using that as the mat for a test. You only need take the mouse itself. As an alternative do you have a friend nearby who has Apple iMac or MBP who would co-operate to test your mouse.
