Q: VPN error connecting - pppd restricted

Hi I think I have a problem with OX The captain and networks, I sail perfectly with the team but since update has stopped running the VPN, I tried the option of entering recovery mode to "disable csrutil" then "sudo chmod u + s / usr / sbin / pppd "but it does not work when using Netextender or FortiClient. I have another Mac with Lion and working properly the only difference I notice in the 'pppd' file in the Captain makes me "restricted, compressed" and only Lion "compressed" I put a picture and a log of netextender:

I think the problem is a network file or because I put the wrong password and I can not detect this error. as I said the VPN working properly with another MAC using the same network.

Help....

You should not be messing with the security features of the OS.

Problems may have to do with the network, or the client software you are using.

I'd start by making sure that all the software is updated, and then create a new vpn entry, double-checking that everything is entered correctly.

FWIW, I use the built-in VPN features on El Capitan to connect to my university regularly, and without issues.

I am not familiar with "Fortinet", and I suspect you may need to update that, or just use the built-in VPN.

You should uninstall netextender and forticlient. They may actually be the cause of your problems. Do not use any programs that claim to "protect" your mac, be it antivirus or any sort of "cleaners".

You need to know the exact settings required for your vpn connection.

There are a few different types (IPSEC, PPTP and more), and you need to choose the right one when you create the connection, otherwise it won't work. If necessary, ask the institution to which you are connecting for instructions. If it is a university they may even provide those instructions online; in any case they are the ones who know the exact details.

The domain can probably be entered with the user, as in user@domain; again, ask the institution for the details.

With the details at hand, it takes seconds to create a vpn connection using the mac built-in software.

Let me know if you need help with that.
