Q: Excel 2011 Corrupt Files from .xlsm

I've been dealing with this issue for several months. I receive an .xlsm file from a remote coworker, who is Windows based. Opens perfectly the first time after receiving. Then I work on the file, save and close. Go to reopen and the file is corrupted. Try to open and repair to no avail. I have done the open with Numbers and export back to Excel fix, but I lose my VBA and the formatting gets all screwy and it takes me hours to recover the work I did anyway. Any ideas?

Numbers does NOT modify excel files.  It imports them (converts them to Numbers) then allows you save in a native Numbers format or export back to excel.  Either way you are always going through the excel -> Number translation and information can be altered.

If you really must use excel files for your livelihood I suggest you get excel installed so you can work more directly.

I guess we can agree to disagree. Wayne, do you have any suggestions on how to get Excel installed properly so I can work more directly? I haven't heard of this problem before.
