Q: Bug: iOS 10, Siri invades lock screen even with the setting off

iOS 10, Siri invades lock screen even with the setting off

Ever since upgrading to iOS 10 (iPhone 5S) siri pops up whenever i try to unlock my phone because i'm not used to this way of unlocking yet. But siri on lock screen is off in the settings. I can shut off siri all together but i don't see that as an option.

Is this a bug in iOS 10 or am i missing something?

iPhone 5s, iOS 10, null

    Hello nick_ve,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that ever since you have upgraded to iOS 10, Siri starts whenever you try to unlock your iPhone, and Siri on the lock screen is off in Settings. I completely understand, as when I upgraded it took me a few tries to get adjusted to unlocking with the Home button. I'm more than happy to assist you with this.

Pressing down once on the Home button on your iPhone 5s will unlock the screen, and holding down for more than 1 second will activate Siri. It's good to keep that in mind when you are unlocking your iPhone.

There's also a alternate solution that I would like to share with you. You can turn this option off in Settings > General > Accessibility > Home Button. Turn on Rest Finger to Open. You can open the iPhone with Touch ID, without having to press the Home button.

    Have a wonderful day!

Same problem whatever I do if I hold the home button down that unwanted voice control starts up and I have tried everything to turn it off must be a big bug in 10. Oh and I do not have Siri in my general setting so can anyone please tell me how I can fix this bug. Yes its easy to hold the home button for that fraction of a second to many and there is nothing more irritating then that blue screen that to me reminds me of the blue screen of death back in my PC days.

    Hi pr1uk,

It is the exact same issue indeed. I guess the only thing you can do is to use the temporary solution Joseph_s. gave. This won't fix the problem but you can work around it and wait for the next iOS update.

    Good Luck!

    Hi Joseph_S.

Thanks for replying so fast. Unfortunately it isn't a full solution because my Touch-ID can be slow so it's easy for Siri to activate but for me it will do because i hate fully pressing the button anyway

    Keep up the good work!

You can change the unlocking behavior of the home button back to the 'old' way in Settings>General>Accessibility>Home Button.

Turn "Rest Finger to Open" on.

Don't hold the button down. Just rest your finger on it.
