Q: My Macbook pro won't take a ".us" email address

I have a  early 2013 Macbook pro and have been trying to set up a ".us" email address.  I can set up a ".com" without any issues but when I try the ".us" email it says it cannot authenticate the email or password. Suggestions? ideas? Anyone had sucess with an email other than a ".com"?  I don't have a ".net" to try but perhaps there is an issue there as well...

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

Are you running your own email server? if so, what email server software are you running?   and what domain-name server is resolving the names for you?

If not, who is the email provider?

Can you access that email with a Web Browser?

I have been able to access it on a PC or on the mac prior to trying to set up the email account. Once I loaded the email account even though it would not recognize the address/password I could not open the email account through the Go Daddy secure server site on the MAC, same message " authentication failed incorrect email and or password"  Go Daddy acknowledges that POP email is not a good match with Apple mail, reporting far more issues than others. Apple is in complete denial, can't imagine what the problem would be and would not acknowledge any history of issues with ".us" accounts. I tend to believe Go Daddy more than Apple although both have been very cooperative in struggling with this issue. Between the two of them I have logged 6 calls and probably 7 hours on the support lines.

Is this a fairly new account, or could this account already have thousands of emails in it?

This is an older account, I probably have a thousand-ish emails in my outlook files and maybe 300-400 in my inbox. I did notice that when I put in the ".com" account to see if it would load it did dump all the emails that were in my inbox because I hadn't been there in over a week (I'm supposed to be on vacation...).

It may not be the .us that is the problem.

If there are a lot of existing emails and this has anything to do with Outlook, this is a known issue at GoDaddy. There have been previous posts about it here in the last 6 months.
