Q: Deleting former Apple ID
I gave my older iMac to my son and tried to set it up for him. It is running 10.11.6! He set up his own Apple ID and Mail, Messages, Safari, FaceTime all work fine. However, iBook, App Store and iTunes do not. Each time we try to access the latter three we get a request to sign in with Apple ID and password. Listed in the Apple ID box is my former ID when I operated that computer (I've changed my ID's password a few months ago but still use the same ID). When my son types over my listed ID and adds his ID and password the result is an error message. We are at a standstill. Can someone show me how to rid my old ID from my old computer so that my son's ID will work properly? He lives out of town and has no real way of backing up his stuff so deleting his hard drive would be a challenge. I would appreciated any thoughts and help.
iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

AppleID's cannot be transferred or merged which includes the purchases made with them.
Any purchases (including free ones) are forever linked to that AppleID. Any music, apps (including the OS), or other content downloaded under your AppleID will remain connected to that AppleID. There is no way to alter that. You must delete all content tied to that AppleID which is what dialabrain's link effectively does.
Even the bundled apps (iWork, iMovie, etc) are tied to your AppleID. The only way to update them is by using your old AppleID. They must "purchase" all of those items under their own AppleID.
