Q: Mac Book Pro is getting too hot.  Is it time to replace the battery?  Can I replace the battery myself?

    The Mac runs its fans in a feedback loop based on measured internal temperatures.

     

    If the temperature is climbing and the fans are not speeding up to compensate, you likely have a Hardware Problem.

     

    If the Mac gets too hot it will do an emergency uncontrolled power-Off.

     

    EDIT: Replacing the battery is a completely separable issue not at all related to temperature. It's the Samsung phone batteries that are catching fire, not Macs.
