Q: numbers

I just updated my iOS devices to iOS10 yesterday and while I can access my Numbers/Pages documents on all those devices, now it's telling me I can't open them on my Macbook Air.

I have changed nothing on my Macbook and everything was fine yesterday until I updated my iOS devices.

I really need access to these documents on my Macbook. I mean it's life or Death. They are backed up fortunately to an external drive and in the cloud, but again, it's not the documents, it's being able to get access to them from my Macbook.

Can someone please help.

Thanks

MacBook Air, iOS 10

It does not surprise me that the iOS version of a Numbers document is not usable by Mac OS X after iOS has been updated without a corresponding update for Mac OS X.  I suggest, in the future, you delay updating until updates are available for both device-- especially in light of "I really need access to these documents on my Macbook. I mean it's life or Death."

For "mission critical" documents you should lag the curve a little.

IF you have a back up version you should revert to that on you macbook and avoid opening that document on your iOS device for now.  Locate older version by looking through your Time Machine backup, emails where you shared the document, removable media, etc.

What, specifically, is the error message when trying to open the files on your MacBook?

What version of OS X and Numbers is running on it?

If you've updated Numbers for iOS to the latest version for iOS 10, you likely won't be able to open the documents in Numbers on your Mac until the next version is released on September 20.

In the meantime, try exporting/sharing the file as .xls & opening that on your Mac.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I solved the problem by un-installing the program and re-installing it. That did the trick. I'm not sure why, as older numbers docs opened fine, but ones created in the past month or so didn't. Whatever happened it is resolved.

Again, Thank you all very much.
