Q: iMessage Notifications No Longer Shown On Lock Screen in iOS 10 - Why?
I use an iPhone 6S and I have recently updated to iOS 10 (10.0.1).
Before the upgrade new iMessages where shown on the lock screen. The lock screen in this context is the dark turned of screen while iPhone is not used but being turned on, of course.
iOS showed incoming messages and allowed to interact with them.
iOS 10 on the other hand does not notify new iMessages, neither as widget nor via sound.
I have not changed any of them before or after the upgrade from 9.3.5 to 10.0.1.
Is this a defect or have settings changed?
Thank you!

Hello Hackberger,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding you're no longer receiving iMessage notifications on the locked screen after updating to iOS 10. I know it's very important to get proper notification of new messages. I am happy to help.
First, I recommend restarting your phone. This can resolve many unexpected behaviors. Please use the steps below if needed.
- Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
- Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
- After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
After you test this out again, if it keeps happening we would suggest checking the Notifications settings to ensure they are enabled correctly for your phone. Use the section titled "Change alert styles and settings for notifications" from here:
Use Notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
If the issue persists the next option would be to Reset All Settings. This takes all settings back to default, including Wi-Fi networks and passwords, alerts, notifications, brightness, wallpaper, and sounds. This will also remove Apple Pay cards. Even though no content is lost with this step, it's always a good idea to back up first. If you don't have a recent backup, follow the steps in the link below
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Once you've successfully backed up, Reset All Settings in Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
Have a great day!
