Q: safari locks up with gestures

I have the latest Safari (9.1.3) running under Yosemite, with all updates.

I use a Mighty Mouse with gestures to control Safari.  Regularly, the gestures lock-up Safari.  I will swipe to return to the previous window.  The old window/screen will get about 5% revealed and then just freeze.  All other buttons are also frozen.  My only option is to exit and re-start Safari.  The problem then continues until I do a full re-boot of the OS.

This has been going to for months (with earlier versions of Safari).  I keep hoping that Apple will fix this.  I have seen other postings about it, but no solutions.  Firefox and Chrome run just fine.

Advice or ways to feedback to Apple so that could fix a frustrating issue?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for improvement. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.

Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. Then try Safari/History/Show History and delete all history items.  Quit/reopen Safari and test. You can also try try Safari/Clear History…. The down side is it clears all cookies. Doing this may cause some sites to no longer recognize your computer as one that has visited the web site. Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library./Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db and move it to the trash.

Go to Safari Preferences/Extensions and turn all extensions off. Test. If okay, turn the extensions on one by one until you figure out what extension is causing the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions.  The challenge with looking through extensions is that the failure is intermittent.  Once it happens, it will occur regularly until i re-boot the computer.  Then, Safari will run smoothly for a long time (days) until it fails again. Testing by turning off extensions would be time consuming and difficult to tell if there is a positive result since a failure to 'fail' might just be within the range of the normal pattern I hate intermittent failures.

    You are welcome.

    I hate intermittent failures.

They do tend to be a bit annoying, to put it mildly.
