Q: iOS 10 Mail App lock screen notifications

Am I the only one who thinks the appearance of the Maill app notifications on an iPhone 6 in iOS 10'is ridiculous? Each one comes in so huge it takes up half of the notification real estate.  Is there a way to make them nice and short like they used to be, or like any other apps just two lines? Iis it a bug perhaps?

Not exactly what I had in mind. Here is a screenshot of what I'm seeing in the lock screen when I receive an email. Huge boxes and no way to change it back to a small two line ones, like they were in iOS 9 or like the other apps are showing.

There a reason why I provided the feedback link to Apple in my response.

And I submitted a bug report too! Could not find any mention of anyone on the web complaining about this. *** were they thinking leaving it like that?

I have no idea what the reasoning could be for the giant banners.  Everyone I have talked to hates it, but like you I have also found very few complaints online.  Weird.

I am in total agreement..  I get 100s of emails and I just want to know who and subject.  Having the email body there is a complete waste of space and causes excessive scrolling.   APPLE HELP!!!

Also the text in the email itself is too small not like ios9 how it was perfect. I should have not updated Apple screwed up.

Same here. I especially hate that it shows the html code. At least they could have filtered all that stuff out and show only what would actually be visible if it were properly rendered. Either only the text or go all the way and render the email and show the top x pixels of graphic.

    Citing this article from ZDnet.com:

"Just like previous versions of iOS, you can set your alerts and notifications to preview their content -- like text messages and emails -- on your lock screen, allowing anyone with access to your iPhone or iPad a glimpse. To limit this feature, for example, to just showing the sender of the message, go to Settings > Notifications, and then select Messages and Mailfor text messages and email, respectively. From each screen, you can change the preview style. For maximum privacy, disable Show Previews so that message content won't be displayed on the lock screen."

This helped me with this same issue.

Yes, I tried that of course. It made them nice and small, but I really like seeing the subject line in full.

That solves the lock screen issue. You also have to remove the notifications from the Notification Center or you're left with this, which is just as absurd. IMG_3381.PNG

This can be solved in the Notifications settings:

    1. Go to Notifications

    2. Go to Mail

    3. Select the mailbox you want to change

    4. De-select "Show Previews". This will return it back to the standard sized notification in the lock screen
