The new Version of Numbers dropped that option.  There are several ways to move to the next cell:

<return> will go to the next cell (below)

<shift> + <return> will go to the previous cell (above)

<tab> will go to the next cell (to the right)

<shift> + <tab>  will go to the previous cell (to the left)

you may, also, provide feedback regarding this feature to Apple using the menu item "Numbers > Provide Numbers Feedback"

    Hi silvano,

If you use a regular pattern when entering values, press enter (return) after entering the last value in a row. That will take you to the first Body Cell of the next row.

    Screen Shot 2014-03-05 at 10.56.38 pm.png

    Start in Cell B2

    1 Tab 2 Tab 3 Enter

    4 Tab 5 Tab 6 Enter

    7 Tab 8 Tab 9 Enter

Now you are ready to type into B5 .

Another way that some people find easier is to enter one column at a time

    Start at B2

    1 enter

    4 enter

    7 enter

    etc.

    Now start with C2.

Use whatever suits your work flow.

    Regards,

    Ian.

It does not allow you to simply hit "return" to go to the cell below anymore unlike Wayne Contello suggests. I have this problem and am finding it very frustrating! When dealing with many cells hitting tab over and over until you are in the next row down is not nearly as efficient has selecting "return key moves to next cell". I hope apple fixes it and SOON!

    Hi AMDavis,

You can teach Numbers to follow the pattern of your data entries.

Be consistent and Numbers will remember (temporarily).

    Happy Numbering!

I'm looking for a much quicker way to get DOWN to the row below, without having to go through every column (for entering students' names in a roster for example). I figured it out! ALL YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY DO NOW IS HIT OPTION(RETURN). They should really have this pop up as a solution OR a shortcut when in iWork apps. I checked both of those places (shortcuts for working in a table) and it wasn't there. So relieved there's a way to do this without "building in memories" or scrolling through every single column.
